good day fine gentlemen.

I couldn't quite figure out the syntax for multiple patterns in the filename.
for example every *.jpg, *.jpeg, *.bmp, *.png should be downloaded to dir x, and so on...

many thanks in advance,

I just read trough the help tab of the add on and came to the conlusion it should look something like this: *\.(jpeg|jpg|png|bmp)$
am I right?

But during the testing process I realized that I'm always being asked where to save my file. (tested with a simple filter: all domains, *.png file)

I've read trough the how to multiple times and cant seem to find the error.

Your filter is almost correct, you need to add a dot at the beginning:
Quote :

and don't forget to enable the Regexp checkbox

What you say about the "always ask me where to save", it's not related to your filter.
Automatic Save Folder doesn't automatically save the files, it only "automatically select the first folder which will be opened" to prevent you from browsing many times your HDD to select the destination folder.

With ASF, you only tell Firefox to select the suggested folder based on your filters.
Then, if you want Firefox to automatically save the files, there are two options:

1. You can choose to not display the file explorer, and Firefox will save the downloaded file when you select "save" in the save window.
To do that, go to ASF preferences > options tab > tab1 : Select "Save file to...filter" instead of "always ask where to save"

2. You can let ASF auto-accept the save window to prevent you from always having to click "save".
Go to preferences > options tab > Automatically accept the save window.
Additionally, you can choose two sub-options:
- "do not auto-accept if the download is not part of a filter"
- Force the choice on a specific radio button (open/save/save with DownThemAll/etc.)

I hope you will find what you are looking for and will be able to setup the add-on like you want.
If you need more help, just ask me.
