so.. I've continued testing..
I have removed ASF from my add-ons and completely uninstalled firefox.
Then I have also removed ASF from my other machine from which I do the firefox sync.
After this I started a fresh installation of the latest Firefox, tried to download
different files. Everything worked as set in the general firefox settings.

Then I added the latest beta of ASF to my firefox, no settings. Still working as it should.
Checked the console for feedback - pictures do not show up. Every other tested filetype
(including pdf, zip, rar and other) show up with correct details in the console.

To test things a little more I added a *.jpg file filter, nothing. Then I just tried to filter
for a specific website, where I test-downloaded a picture. Nothing, its not recognized by ASF.

Still, every other file works perfectly fine and is recognized correctly.

The only explanation I have for this - I didn't read ASFs source - is that since Firefox 27
(approx. when ASF started this behaviour) handles picture (jpg, jpeg, png, gif) differently
then before. And therefore ASF can't access these downloads.

I will try to resolve this.. somehow.. I love the add-on and don't want to abandon it!

Hello :)

You said it used to work, did you try to go back to Firefox 26 or 25?
Are you using the same gesture addon version? you didn't specify it yet.

I'll test this weekend, and check the gesture sources.
if you check my sources, they are a little old and messy.

I tested firegesture on Firefox 25 and it worked fine.
I tested it on Firefox 28, and like you said it didn't work.

It seems they changed the right-click function, as even other right-click downloads are not working.
Only regular links which opens the save window trigger ASF.
I don't know how to fix it without checking Firefox sources, I'm afraid it will not be easy to fix if they changed a lot of things.

Edit (2014-03-28):
I didn't check the issue yet, sorry.
I noticed that Firefox use an entirely new layout for tabs, that's probably what broke the Right-click feature in ASF.
It might not be installed at launch (it should merge with Firefox's browser layout and functions). If they changed the layout names, ASF is not installed correctly anymore.

That's really great that Mozilla devs are doing things without telling developers what to changes or what to do to fix their addons. like the new download feature, they told me by email "there a new method, use it", but they didn't provide all previous features in the new method....:/

I have no clue what the firefox developers thought when doing this.. its really a pity!
Thanks for all the effort anyways!

I updated the addon to support right-click with Firefox 27+

I didn't test Firegesture yet, but if right-click works, it should work too.
